Strip Stacker consists of 12 panels where you can enter text. Each panel will accept up to 300 characters. The amount of text you enter will determine the font size of the resultant strips, more text resulting in a smaller font size. This ensures that the font size is larger and therefore easier to see when only a few words are entered, and that each strip remains the same size. The font size is calculated on the basis of the strip containing the largest number of words. Although, you can't set your own font size, you can set the font itself (provided you have the fonts installed on your computer).
You don't have to fill all twelve panels. Three formats are produced: If you fill eight panels or fewer, a stack of eight A4 sheets will be produced ready for cutting, which once cut will result in eight stacks of eight strips, ready sorted. If you fill nine or ten panels, a stack of ten A4 sheets will be produced ready for cutting, which once cut will result in ten stacks of ten strips, ready sorted. And similarly, if you fill eleven or twelve panels, a stack of twelve A4 sheets will be produced ready for cutting, which once cut will result in twelve stacks of twelve strips, ready sorted.
It is up to you to calculate the multiples of the various formats you need according to the number of strips in each set and the number of sets you need (i.e. the number of students).
To use Strip Stacker, enter the text you require on each strip by typing or pasting in the text. Select the font you require from the drop down list. Decide on the alignment you prefer (Left, Centre, Right) and whether you want gridlines or not. Then click "Stack". You can check the result by clicking "Preview" which provides a Print Preview of the resultant stack or you can click "Print" immediately.
Occasionally, a blank sheet may be appended to the stack. Unless you require extra blanks strips, you should remove this before cutting the stack.
Once printed, you can guillotine the strips and they will be ready sorted. It couldn't be simpler.
